We offer a variety of services including dental prophylaxis.  This preventive procedure, also referred to as a "teeth cleaning", is recommended annually, along with daily home care.  Please see our Home Care Tips page for detailed information and instructions.

A dental prophylaxis is the process of cleaning and polishing the teeth, and is available for both dogs and cats!  We are able to remove tartar and plaque, as well as clean each tooth above and below the gumline with the help of an ultrasonic scaler and hand instruments.  We finish by polishing each tooth, which helps slow the accumulation of plaque and tartar in the future.

For the pet with periodontal disease, we offer periodontal therapy.  This involves a combination of ultrasonic and hand instruments, as well as root planing.

Patients with periodontal disease may require periodontal surgery.  This includes mucogingival surgery, bone grafts, and open root planing.

Pediatric dentistry plays a major role in proper development for many pets.  Some young patients could benefit by repositioning or possibly removing juvenile teeth, in order to help others align correctly.  We are able to diagnose and anticipate future complications, and give your pet the best chance for normal, natural development.  

Felines often have very specific dental problems associated with their species.  Feline dentistry is one of our specialties, as the Animal Dental Clinic effectively diagnoses and treats stomatitis and tooth resorption.  We are also able to treat CUPS, canine stomatits, and juvenile gingivitis.

For teeth with genetic defects, we are able to use restorative dentistry in order to make the tooth viable and fully functional.   Dr. Battig uses composite resins that match the color of the tooth, making it  look as natural as possible.

Dental radiographs are an essential part of both diagnosis and treatment of all dental conditions.  We have a complete digital radiograph system customized for dentistry, which allows us to diagnose properly and expedite our procedures.  This, in turn, will shorten our patients' anesthesia time by allowing us to work efficiently. 



General anesthesia is also a key aspect of proper oral diagnosis and treatment.  We have the capability to use either Isoflurane or Sevoflurane, and each patient is constantly monitored for heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure, inspiratory and expiratory CO2, and oxygen saturation.  We customize each patient's anesthetic protocol based on their individual needs, and adjust their anesthesia accordingly.
